Vicki Hodges has been involved in choirs for over 20 years, having originally trained as an opera singer in both England and Italy. She is passionate about bringing singers and self-classified ‘non-singers’ together to make uplifting, feel-good music—because she firmly believes that if you can talk, you can sing!
From 2014 to 2020, Vicki worked for Tenovus Cancer Care, running choirs for people affected by cancer across Surrey, Sussex, and London. As part of a pioneering research project in collaboration with The Royal Marsden, Imperial College, and the Royal College of Music, she led these choirs, helping scientists explore the wellbeing benefits of singing for those affected by cancer.
Since 2021, Vicki founded and has been the Creative Director of Sing Out Sutton, leading choirs and community singing projects that bring people together through music. She also works with the NHS to provide singing for wellbeing services for both staff and patients.
Alongside her work in music, Vicki is a life coach, helping performers and creatives who feel stuck to regain clarity, confidence, and direction in their careers. She has a deep understanding of the challenges of the performing arts and loves supporting others in finding their own unique path.
Steve is a Chartered Member of the Chartered Institute of Personnel & Development (CIPD) and a Chief People Officer (CPO) with significant experience across the private, public and, more recently, the charity sectors. He is currently the CPO for The Scouts Association and has previously been in HR leadership roles in BT, The Children's Society, Speech & Language UK, Versus Arthritis, ActionAid, the Royal Marsden Hospital Charity and others.
Steve is living with cancer and has direct personal experience of the positive impact singing has on his wellbeing and is one of our founding trustee team. He enjoys socialising, retro pop, including Eurovision, having been to six contests, upcycling, gardening and hanging around charity shops (He loves a bargain!).
Rosie worked as a teaching assistant in primary schools for over 20 years, retiring in 2019. She used to sing in a church choir as a teenager and was pleased to return to singing, after having children, when she joined Tenovus Cancer Care’s Sing with Us choir in Sutton in 2016. She sang with them until COVID forced the group to close.
She’s been involved in helping Sing out Sutton behind the scenes from its launch in June 2021, becoming a founding Trustee in November 2022 when Sing out Sutton gained charity status. Rosie has personally benefitted from the support that Sing out Sutton has offered her during her husband’s diagnosis and treatment for cancer.
Rosie has three cheeky grandsons who she loves spending time with!
